朝型9名・夜型9名の計18名を対象に調査を行ったところ、朝型の人は一日中コンスタントに行動できるのに対して、夜型の人は夕方以降に威力を発揮することが明らかになったそうです。

この違いには脳や脊髄の働きと関係があるとのことで、夜型の人は、脳にある運動野と脊髄の興奮度合いが午後9時頃に同時にピークになり、中枢神経が一番動く状態になる一方、朝型の人は運動野と脊髄の興奮度合いが同じタイミングでピークに達しないので、夜型の人ほど急激に行動パワーがアップする時間帯はない反面、一日中コンスタントに動けるそうです。
